Noel Trustrum

Geomorphologist Dr Noel Trustrum has worked for over thirty years as a technology transfer and development specialist on disaster risk reduction and watershed management programmes throughout SouthEast Asia and the Pacific. After the 2004 Aceh tsunami, Noel's approach to disaster preparedness was influenced by the resilience of survivors and their supporting communities, especially those who have built entirely new lives after losing their entire family and possessions. Working alongside the many people and organizations contributing to the relief, recovery and rehabilitation process following the Tsunami moved Noel to publish Scars: Life after the Tsunami, in 2012. He then returned to Aceh in 2014 with photographer Udo von Mulert to rephotograph and document ten years of recovery. He was accompanied by videographer Mick Finn and researcher Kadek Adidharma to conduct interviews.
