about us
When Sarita Newson first decided to pursue graphic design in 1987, there was only one other graphic design firm on the island of Bali. Now, Saritaksu Design Communication is part of a thriving writing and design community that supports the economy, culture and art of the island. Saritaksu draws from a pool of creative talent: writers, editors, translators, photographers, illustrators and graphic designers residing in Indonesia. Saritaksu Editions continues to cater for a demand for high-quality books on different subjects.
what's in a name?
In Balinese Sari means “essence” and Taksu is a Balinese word for “creative inspiration”.
When Sarita established her sole-ownership company in Bali, she called it “Saritaksu” – “the essence of creative inspiration”.
From early days, Saritaksu became known for pioneering a style of Eat-West fusion that combines imagery from Balinese history, art and culture with the latest in contemporary exploration.
Who we are
our logo
The mandala on our logo comes from an ancient, very sacred bronze drum in Bali called the “Moon of Pejeng” after the temple in which it is kept. The Balinese love this drum so much that it has become a simile for beauty: “…as lovely as the Moon of Pejeng”.
